TextNow Is Starting To Grow On You

Canadian Business magazine unveils its 30th annual list of Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies, and you’ll never guess who’s on it.

‍Every year for the past thirty years, Canadian Business magazine has listed the fastest-growing companies in Canada, and this year was no exception. The Growth 500 (formerly known as the the PROFIT 500) profiles the country’s most successful growing businesses, based on revenue growth over the past five years.

And we’re on it! Safely ensconced at number 149, we saw an outstanding 379% revenue growth in the last five years. Not bad for a company that started out in our founder’s student apartment. (Also, I can’t help but notice that I’ve been here for four of those five years. They keep telling me that correlation is not causation, but come on.)And speaking of our founder, let’s hear what he has to say about this prestigious numerical ranking:

“We’re thrilled to be a part of this list,” says CEO Derek Ting. “It’s great to be recognized for this wild journey TextNow has been on, from starting with just a couple of university students making an app to becoming an industry leader with over 100 million downloads in just a handful of years. But it’s also a strong indication of how strong the tech sector is, not just in Waterloo, but all across Canada.”

But the business side of things is only one aspect of any company. Granted, it’s a pretty important one, but the intangibles are what makes companies strong. Greg Silva, our VP of People & Culture, notes:
